Before installing a delivered UTV accessory, match what arrived with the exact item you ordered and its parts list. A careful receiving check can separate a wrong variant, a split shipment and a genuinely missing component before any packaging is discarded or a modification begins.

Do this on a clean, well-lit surface with the vehicle safely parked. This is an inspection and recordkeeping checklist, not permission to energize equipment, dismantle a product or improvise an installation.

Keep the order and the package together

Open the order confirmation and note the selected option, quantity and product description. Save the packaging label and any manufacturer part number. The name on a shipping label may be a warehouse reference rather than the retail product name, so compare several identifiers rather than deciding from one unfamiliar code.

Check whether the order has more than one tracking number. UTV Wholesaler's shipping and returns page explains that some multi-item orders arrive in separate packages. An item absent from the first box may still be in transit. Review the current policy and order status before describing the shipment as incomplete.

Photograph the condition before rearranging everything

Take an overview of the packaging and its contents. If there is visible damage, include a closer photo and an image that shows where the damage sits on the item. Keep packing material until you have reconciled the shipment and any support question.

A photo record does not require posting private details publicly. Send order identifiers and shipping information only through the store's appropriate private support route. Crop unrelated labels from photographs intended for a public review.

Count against the correct parts list

Lay out supplied components in small groups. Keep labeled hardware bags separate until the instructions identify them. Compare the count with the parts list for the exact accessory version, noting whether the stated quantity applies to one assembly, a pair or the whole kit.

Product photographs sometimes show the accessory installed with other equipment. Use the written contents list to establish what the purchased option includes. A photo of a light bar with a wiring harness does not, on its own, resolve whether the selected option includes that harness.

  • Match the left and right components where the instructions distinguish them.
  • Record brackets, spacers, protective pads and other listed pieces separately.
  • Distinguish supplied items from tools or parts the instructions say are required separately.
  • Leave unexplained extra pieces identified and set aside until the manufacturer clarifies their purpose.

Check the variant before checking the fit

Compare the selected size, vehicle application, color and mounting option with the label and documentation. A familiar-looking component can belong to a different year range or mounting arrangement. Do not force it into position to settle the question.

For a mirror, distinguish the mirror body from the clamp option. For a lighting kit, distinguish a single unit from a pair and the light assembly from the harness package. These examples are checks to make, not a statement that every listing uses the same package structure.

If the order is correct but compatibility is still uncertain, return to the UTV accessory planning guide. Resolve the vehicle and existing-accessory details before installation changes the condition of the product.

Prepare one clear support message

State the order reference, exact item and option, what you expected, and what you received. Add the parts-list page or reference, actual count and clear photos. Describe visible damage without diagnosing its cause. Ask the specific question that would unblock the next step.

Do not substitute a bolt because its diameter looks close, open electrical equipment to investigate a fault, or use a damaged accessory while waiting for an answer. Refer the issue to the seller or manufacturer and follow the relevant safety instructions.

Quick answers

Should I install it to see whether it is the correct part?

Confirm identity and compatibility first. Installation can change the item's condition and affect return eligibility. Read the current return requirements before removing protective layers or making modifications.

What if the manual is missing?

Ask for the current instructions for the complete part number and version. Our accessory manual record guide explains what to retain once the correct document is found.

What is the finished receiving record?

A matched order, identified accessory, reconciled contents, condition photos and the correct instructions. That gives you a useful starting point for the installation decision.
